Auto Insurance Claims: stolen car insurance claim, car insurance claim, keys to my car

Question
My purse was stolen with my keys to my car among other things and a few days later they came to my house and took my car. The police were called for the auto theft but not for the purse so there is no report number. Can the insurance company refuse for damages done to my car while stolen for any reason?

Answer
Hi Jessica,

The insurance company can not deny your claim due to your keys being stolen. However, it would be a good idea to also file a police report for your stolen purse. Not only for the theft claim but also is anything else happens such as identity theft or if the thieves come back and burglarize your house.

Also be sure to cal any and all credit card companies and your bank to inform them of the theft as well.

I hope this helps
