Auto Insurance Claims: Parked car was hit -need response ASAP, response asap, rental coverage

Question
My car was hit by another car.  I have no collision.  His insurance totaled my car and is going to pay me.  I have asked them to rent me a car for at least two weeks so that I can look for another car they told me that they can only rent me a car for 3 days.  They said it was a New York State Law and that was all they allowed.  I want to know if this is true.  Can I fight this in anyway.  I live in Brooklyn New York and the company is Progressive.  I do not think I should have to lay any money out of my pocket I have no car and I feel like I should be compensated in some way.  I am not familar with the laws can you please tell me how to proceed. Can the insurance company compensate in any way besides paying me for the car.  My car was in great condition and I will not be able to replace it with the money they are giving me .  So I will have to add money to get a car that is compatible to what I had.  Any information would be helpful.  Thank you.  It has been two weeks since the accident and they finally decided to pay.  Please respond asap because I am due to meet with them on Wed.

Answer
Hi Andrea,

I used to live in Brooklyn myself.

Unfortunately, the insurance company is correct. Once they pay for your car they no longer owe any more rental coverage. There is nothing else you can be compensated for. It is unfortunate, but you will have to locate a replacement vehicle as soon as possible in order to minimize your inconvenience.

I hope this helps
