Auto Insurance Claims: Reading estimate, hail damage, damage estimate

Question
Can you show me an actual estimate for hail damage to the roof of an suv.  I primarily just want to know how to read the thing so to know as to if they are giving me what I want and need.

Answer
Hi Eric,

I do not have a hail damage estimate to send you. However, you should ask the insurance company or the body shop doing the work to provide you with a full explanation.

Often hail damage will be repaired using a process called PDR (paintless dent repair). This is where a technician uses a number of tools to get behind the dents and actually press them out. This enables the repair to be completed with the need to repaint the repaired areas. In most cases PDR provides a quality unnoticable repair. There are however, situations where you can still see a slight imperfection.

You should have a detailed discussion with whomever is going to repair the vehicle, the potential outcome as well as any warrantee they provide.

I hope this helps
