Auto Insurance Claims: charge for old repair, hi mike, insurance agent

Question
Last winter, my wife hit the right back bumper against a guard rail during a snowstorm.  Little scratch on bumper but it must of jarred car.  No claim made. Last week, she hit the left side of the car that caused about $500 of damage(new bumper).  Got estimate and ran it thru our agent.  The repair shop started the repair but could not get the new bumper on because of car's right side issue.  They said they had to fix the right side since to install the bumper.  Insurance agent said I would have to turn in separate claim for the right side.  We never wanted/needed it fixed until the repair of left side.  Do we have any option besides paying out of pocket for the right side?

Answer
Hi Mike,

Each incident is seperate. If the only way to fix the damage from the second accident is to fix the damage from the first accident then you will either have to file another claim which will have a seperate deductible or pay the cost out of pocket.

I hope this helps
