Auto Insurance Claims: auto accident, auto insurance policy, underinsured motorist coverage

I was in a car accident in July 2007.Ive done had sugery on my lower back,and the doctor said i can not do no heavy lifting.Im very depress rightnow because the insurance ploicy limit is only 50000 and my medical bills come up to $78000 plus my wife lost wages $900.My question,is there any kind of way the insurance ploicy pay more then the ploicy?Like other ploicy then 50000per person100000per person.I just don't understand

Hi Marcus,

Based on your question, I assume someone else was at-fault for your accident and that their policy only has a $50,000.00 limit. If the limit of the policy is $50,000.00 then that is all they can pay out because that is all the coverage that the at-fault person purchased.

If you have uninsured / underinsured motorist coverage on your own auto insurance policy, you may be able to collect the balance of your claim there. You should look at your policy or call your agen to see if you have uninsured motorist bodily injury coverage. If you do you should call your insurance company and tell them that you want to make a claim.
