Auto Insurance Claims: Direct General Claims, ft smith, smith arkansas

Question
Hi, Richard. I live in Ft Smith, Arkansas and has had an accident in March. The insurance company has a deductible in the amount of $200 which I understand is my responsibility. They sent me $277.40 after they did their own estimate without my knowledge! They didn't look under the hood of the car, so when I got my own estimates, I found out that what they gave me wasn't even half of what it would take to repair my car. What can I do?  Do I need to get the body shop to do the supplement estimate and fax it back to the insurance company or what? They haven't given me an rental car and hasn't returned my phone calls today either. I have traveled from my home to two hours away just to get my car repaired by the one repair guy I trust with my car, so getting things done soon would be nice! What are my options?

Answer
Hi Natalie,

Your body shop should be calling the insurance comapny to request a supplement. The insurance company will send an inspector to the shop to inspect the additional damage and approve the additional charges. In most cases the insurance company will then issue a check directly to the body shop for the balance.

I hope this helps
