Auto Insurance Claims: Who is responsibile for auto bills and can we be liable for at fault persons medical bills, bicycle accident, repair bills

Question
My 17 yo daugher was in an auto vs bicycle accident yesterday with a 13 yo boy in the state of PA.  The boy on the bike came flying out of a one way alley going in the wrong direction and straight into the path of her vehicle. He received minor injuries but was transported to the hospital.  Her car sustained over $2,000 worth of damage and she only has liability coverage not collision.  My questions are #1 is there any way we can be held responsible for the boys medical bills when he was at fault due to his age? and #2 What are our options in regards to the repair bills on her vehicle since the state of PA's uninsured coverage only covers bodily injury?

Answer
Hi Cathy,

You will have to get estimates of the repair cost to your vehicle. Then you would contact the boys parents requesting that they pay for the cost of the repairs. Hopefully there was a witness to all of this. Even though the boy was at fault, you should expect that the parents will try to place the blame on your daughter. You should call your insurance company to report the incident just incase they contact your insurance company trying to make a claim. If they do your insurance company will deal with them.

I hope this helps
