Question
My truck was hit while parked the person called her insurance co. they came out and gave me an appraisial which was less than the one I got.The appraiser did not put all the parts down that my appraiser did and now the amount is lower.I do not want to get the work done yet all I would like is the amount of my appraisial. What can I do?

Answer
Joe,

Your situation is common. Usually the insurance company estimate is lower than the shop's estimate. What you need to do is take the insurance estimate to your mechanic. Have your mechanic call the insurance adjuster and they will discuss what is needed and what is not. Usually the insurance company   issues the payment per their estimate, and once the vehicle is completely fixed, they will the entire amount.

Again, this is a the normal procedure. However, you should be diligent and make sure your mechanic talk to your insurance adjuster before the car gets fixed. The insurance company cannot tell you to go to another shop, and they owe you to put you back in the position you were before.

Good Luck,
