Auto Insurance Claims: Someone hit my parked car, 2007 colbalt, machanic

Question
I was at home two weeks ago and someone hit my car.  The whole back end of my car needs replaced.  I drive a 2007 Colbalt and still owe a lot on it.  The drivers insurance company is going to make my title an R title but says that my car is not totaled and I have to finish paying for it?  Please give me any advice possible.  My ban new car is not worth what it was before the accident.  My machanic is saying  the car should be totaled.

Answer
Hi Angela,

An "R" title means Rebuilt. This is generally only done when a vehicle is declared a total loss. It may be possible in your state that this is required for repairs over a certain percentage of the cars value.

You will also be entitle to be paid for the loss of value of your vehicle, called diminished value. To learn more about diminished value you should visit www.collisionclaims.com .

I hope this helps
