Auto Insurance Claims: Question about driver at fault, san francisco bay area, rear bumper

Question
I was driving on a interstate  and I saw on the road a debris from other car (probably piece of rear bumper)and i was unable to avoid it. Turns out it hits my suspension and my insurance company paid for the repairs . Now i look in to my driving history and i was listed as Driver at fault. Is this correct ?

Answer
Hi Sri,
Unfortunately, yes.  If the item had been bouncing and moving on the roadway and hit your grill, fender or windshield, it would have been considered a non-fault comprehensive loss.
Anytime that you hit an item laying on the roadway, it's considered a 'fault' collision loss.
Hope this has been of help.
