Auto Insurance Claims: Auto collision, ford contour, salinas ca

Question
Heres is the scope.  I live in salinas CA.  I visited a friend in Pacifica CA. I let my friend( my friend is 30yrs old and newly licensed since February of 2007) use the car to get us food. She was invovled in a collision in which she rear ended the corner of a truck on the freeway that was alrady invovled in a collision that had happened 5 minutes before. This truck had already been in hit in the rear by another car and my friend hit it to avoid other cars.  No one was in the car or injured. They were on the shoulder.  The area were the collision happened was cone zoned so this created confusion and it did not help that it was foggy and the road slippery.  The chp said that she is at fault because of the conditions of the road and that she should have been going slower than 65.  I have 21st century and full coverage on a 1999 ford contour sport. My question is what happens if she is determined at fault by 21st?  She had my permission to drive, but will i still have full coverage and will my insurance premium jump even though i was not in the car? Thanks in advance.-erik

Answer
Hi Erik,
Based on your wording of the accident, your friend is at fault.
Since she had your permission to drive the vehicle, all of your coverage with 21st Century are in effect just like you were driving.
The insurance follows the vehicle, fault follows the driver.
This accident will cause her insurance to increase, but should have no affect on your own policy rate.
I trust this has been of help, please write again if I can provide more assistance.
Your feedback by rating my answer will be appreciated.
