Auto Insurance Claims: car accident, insurance claim, insurance info

Question
I was in a car accident the other night. I now realize that I made a number of mistakes. I hit on my driver side when another vehicle was trying to exit the freeway last min. It was clearly her fault. We exited the freeway and pulled over. She said she would cover the damages and didn't want to file an insurance claim. This is where the problems start. I didn't have auto insurance and I didn't file a police report. The damage is $5,000, Much more then we both expected. I have her insurance info and contact info. What should I do from here to cellect on the money to get my car repaired? Will her insurance company give me a problem once I contact them for repair?

Answer
Hi Lee,

You should immediately file a claim with the at-fault persons insurance company. The fact that you did not have insurance is not relevant. The insurance company will have to contact the at-fault person to get their side of the story before they will accept liability. As long as she is truthful you should not have any problems.

I hope this helps
