Auto Insurance Claims: Accident, personal injury attorney, flat bed trailer

Question
I was involved in an accident where I was driving a semi flat bed trailer and a dump truck crossed the center line. I pulled my trailer to the right as much as possible but was hit on the drivers side. The other driver died in the accident and I have sustained 2% permanent injury. The accident occurred July 2006 and I have submitted a claim asking for a settlement of $150,000. Do you feel this is too much?

Answer
Hi Juan,

Without knowing all of the particulars about your injuries & treatment, it is not possible for me to say.

Generally, you should expect a settlement of 4 to 10 times the total of your medical bills. The actual settlement will depend on the exact nature of your injuries, the length of your treatment and your permanancy rating.

You should wait to see how the insurance company responds. You should request that they put any offers to you in writing.  You should respond in writing with a slightly lower demand. This is a negotiation. If you do not feel that the insurance company is makeing you a fair offer, you should seek the advice of a personal injury attorney.

I hope this helps
