Auto Insurance Claims: Stolen Motorcycle., insurance commisioner florida, stolen motorcycle

Question
My motorcycle was stolen on 10/15/2006. I had coprehensive insurance incuding theft. My insurance company (Dairyland? Sentry) has paid off the bank. Now they say they want to talk to me again. Under oath on Jan. 4th. They say at that time they may decide to not pay me for the theft. How can they deny paying me when the motorcycle  was stolen, a police report filed and it has not been recovered? They have been stringing me along for over 2 months now. I am broke because I have no vehicle for going to work. Can the insurance commisioner (Florida) help me? Thank you, Pedro.

Answer
HI Pedro,

What the insurance company is going to do is what is called an "Examination Under Oath" (EUO). This is generally done when they thing you had something to do with the theft of your motorcycle. They will ask you many questions so they can look for inconsistancies in your statements to try to find a reason not to pay your claim or to see if you are trying to commit insurance fraud.

If you had nothing to do with the theft of your vehicle, all should be ok. If you did, then you should withdraw your claim. If you did not and they still deny your claim, you should file a complaint with the insurance commisssioners office.

I hope this helps
