Auto Insurance Claims: Car Accident in Texas, radiator support, substantial damage

Question
I rear ended a Jeep which caused substantial damage to my vehicle and the other vehicle looked to just have a scratch on the bumper. Now I know that I am considered to be at fault and since I have liability on my vehicle I need to cover my own expenses. Now the individual I rear ended was not the owner of the vehicle, but the nephew of the owner. He told me that he had a suspended license or that he did not have a license and did not want to get the cops involved and that he would have his aunt to claim the accident under her insurance. I managed to take down all of the insurance information along with the license plate number and the individuals name. The individual refused to claim the accident under the insurance and that I was the one at fault and they did not have to do anything.

Is there anything I can do to have them cover my damages? I know I was at fault, but the individual had a suspended license and was not suppose to be on the road. It was not a bad accident, but because I was driving a car and I hit a jeep that was higher than my car, there was substantial damage to the hood and radiator support of my car. Can I do anything and if anything what should I do?

Answer
Hi Albert,

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. The fact that the driver did not have a license was not the cause of the accident. Anytime you rearend another vehcle, you are considered to be 100% at fault regardless of the license status of the other driver.

I hope this helps
