Auto Insurance Claims: Cancelling Auto Insurance, auto insurance company, cancellation protection

Question
Hello,

If I do not like my auto insurance company, do I have the right to cancell my policy and go with another company?
Am I entitled to switch agents if I wish?

Answer
This is more of an underwriting or sales question than claims, but I've never heard of a policy that couldn't be cancelled.  As far as changing agents that will be up to the insurance company.  My personal carrier and my employing carrier both allow this but I don't know about all insurance companies.
Just make sure that you have good coverage in place before cancelling.   Also keep in mind that many states provide cancellation protection based on your tenure with a company. You may be protected from cancellation for a loss right now, but may lose that when you change carriers.
If the problem is with the agent, then find another the represents the same carrier.
Good luck and I'd appreciate your feedback.
