Auto Insurance Claims: Does comprehensive insurance cover this, comprehensive insurance, mechanical breakdown

Question
Hi, I let a friend borrow my extra car.  He drove it hard to where it will not run now.  I have comprehensive insurance with USAA. Will I be able to pay my deductible and get this fixed through the use of my insurance?

thanks.

Answer
Hi Lena,

Unfortunately no. Auto insurance does not cover mechanical breakdown issues. Comprehensive coverage pays for things like fire, theft, hail & vandalism. But there is no coverage is the vehice breaks down.

I hope this helps
