Auto Insurance Claims: car insurance claims, dirver, spraypaint

Question
hello, about a three months ago my first vehicle died since then i have been driving my mothers vehicle. between 1 and 2 months ago it was still winter i dropped a friend off from school and was pulling out his driveway cautiosly due to snowbanks when a van came and we clipped them slightly. i pulled out of the driveway and moved the vehicle out of the road. the van came back and yelled at my friend and i saying we were trying to drive away from the scene. anyways we checked both cars for damage our car had a black scratch which was fixable by spraypaint as we did and there was to much previus damage to the van for us to tell if there was new damage.

the driver of the van saw my mom in her car the other day which is about 1 to 2 months later and chased her to the house. she made a claim to my mom that she had been n contact with the police about the situation listing several problems with the van as a result of the incident. i called the cops and they havent returned my call yet but seemed puzzled when i asked if they had any reports and or were looking for me. i also called the insurance company and they had no reports of this and said it was fishy but my mom does have liability and it will cover if a report does go through.

i cant believe that a claim can be made this long after the event that we both deemed did not need the cops at the time? and if the cops were looking for me and she knew where i lived suposedly how come nothing has come up until now? should i make a stalking claim if the cops say they have no reports cause the lady knew who we were and where we lived?

Answer
Hi Joshua,

It sounds like you have done everything correctly. The driver of the van is likely going to try to shake your mother down for some money. If ththe dirver of the van makes any further contact with you or your mother, you should tell them that you have been in contact with the police and if they continue to harrass you you will press charges against them. Also tell them that if thay wanted to make an insurance claim to do so.

I hope this helps
