Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC Hose exploding, ac hoses, chevy blazer

Question
A friend of mine owns a '97 Chevy Blazer, 4.3L automatic.  A friend of his tried to recharge his A.C. and one of the main hoses that runs along the top of the radiator cover exploded, or burst.  I am going to replace the pair of hoses for him.  Do you know why this would happen?  I know I need to replace the receiver/dryer or accumulator also, but do I need to have the system flushed out beforehand?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Dan

AC hoses can get over heated in the engine compartment.  Sometimes if you move them for any reason they can crack and exploded.  Make sure your system was not overcharged that can make explode and be dangerous.  Always put gauges on the system to see the total picture.
