Auto Insurance Claims: Removing at-fault, state insurance commissioners, commissioners office

Question
I was involved in an accident 7 months ago. To set-up the situation, there were three cars involved on the freeway. The car that had caused the accident drove off before any information was able to be taken. The authorities came and claimed it was the initial car that caused the accident that was at-fault. Information was exchanged between myself and the other car. Fast-forward 7 months to now and I am now learning from my insurance agent that there was a claim filed for $2,000 back when the accident happened. They also claim that I was at-fault. I contacted the claims office to ask why I was at-fault and why I wasn't made aware of their decision. Their answer to me was that 90% of the time it is the driver in the back that is at-fault and the reason for them not notifying me of their decision was a mix up and that they were sorry. My question is, is there anyway of contesting their decision now?

Answer
Hi Kevin,

Paying th claim was also another error on their part. You will need to contact a claims manager and provide them with a copy of the police report and ask them to correct their records. If thei is not corrected, it will affect your premiuns for the next 3 years. If the insurance company is not cooperative, you may need to file a complaint with your state insurance commissioners office.

I hope this helps
