Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 96 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C blower not working, dodge ram 1500, dodge dealer

Question
The blower is not working. My mechanuc/technician troubleshot it and also used some kind of tester on it. He said the control head was definitely bad. A replacement control head costs over $250 (from the local Dodge dealer) and a little over $200 labor to replace it. He said I might be able to find a replacement control head on line at a parts website or at a junk yard and to find out what they cost and see if it's much cheaper than the dealership (I suspect it would be cheaper). I've been unaable to locate a control head online. Maybe I'm searching wrong. Do you have any suggestions as to where I might go online (or elsewhere) to find one? Also, I would like to know if it's something I should try to replace myself. How difficult is a DIY R & R on the control head if I can find an inexpensive one? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Byron

The control heads do not go bad that often.  Check and see if you have power Positive and negative to blower.  If you have positive and no negative your  resistor may be bad.  If you have negative but no positive check your fuses.  If you both then your blower is gone.
