Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Heater, dodge ram 1500, vacuum line

Question
I recently bought an 04 Dodge Ram 1500. When you turn the temperature control knob to the red zone the blower blows cold air. On the driver side the air is ice cold, but on the passenger side it is warmer but not much. I have wondered upon the possibility of the temperature control being changed at some point but I'm unsure, I know that some Dodge's came with a dual side manual temperature controller for driver/passenger comfort. The trouble is I don't know where to go and find such info if this is the case. I'm hoping there is an easy fix here. Thanks.

Answer
Dan,
It sounds as if it has been replaced at some point in time, and when it was reconnected, the connections leading to the vaccuum control manifold being switched.
What I am picturing is happening...
Inside your blower housing is where your heater core and evaporator for the a/c are located. What is separating these two is what we call a blend door. When you set the switch for heat (red) the switch sends and electrical signal to a vaccuum control manifold telling it to pull a vaccuum on the line that closes off your evaporator so that no cold air will come through. When you set it to cool, another line gets a vauum pulled on it and the door closes off your heater core.
If those two wires on the switch are backwards, it would send the right signal to the wrong vacuum line, doing the exact opposite of what you desire.
Easy check... ifyou set the slider to cool, does heat come out?
If this does not help, please let me know and I will dig in further.
