Isuzu Repair: 97 Rodeo keeps stalling., mass air flow sensor, fuel pressure regulator

Question
QUESTION: y car keeps shuttering and cutting off when I give it too much gas. It also takes a lot of cranking just to get it to turn over. I had the plugs and the mass air flow sensor changed. I checked all the vacuum hoses I can think of. The guy that switched the plugs out said he is almost sure its the fuel pump. But "almost" is not good enough to have me trying to come up with more money to fix something that might not even be broke.

So could anyone tell me how one can tell for sure if the fuel pump has gone bad? Or just what it may be?

ANSWER: Well Eli, it could be your fuel pressure regulator, or a vacuum leak at your intake gaskets, does it have a rough idle? I would check your fuel pressure first and then have your fuel injectors cleaned as well before tearing apart your fuel tank.

QUESTION: It does have a very rough idle at the very begging of the startup. and then it calms down. is there something i can buy to clean the injectors myself?

Answer
well then it is most likely your intake gaskets causing a vacuum leak, the best way to clean your injectors is to use LUCAS fuel stabilizer at any auto parts store. Or you can get rent a kit and it uses your power from your car, just remember to unhook your fuel pump relay so yor car doesn't try and start.
