Auto Insurance Claims: low mileage adjustment calculation, mileage adjustment, adjustor

Question
I am in a dispute with my auto insurance after my car was hit and run while parked on the street.  I would like to know how they calculate in dollars what the value of lower mileage v. higher mileage in determining a similar car value.  They have determined that my car is worth almost $3,000 more than what I owe on it.  My adjustor's supervisor said most people are not upside down on their car loans.  What world is she living in?

Answer
Hi Chris,

Mileage is usually calculated at about 6.5 cents per mile. However this may also differ based on the type and class of vehicle.

To check this out you can go to www.nada.com . Enter the year make and model of your vehicle along with the mileage. Then do is several more times with various milage amounts and you will see the difference.

I hope this helps
