Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: compressor wont kick on., buick lasabre, r 134 refrigerant


Question
I retro fitted this car. purged the system and pumped 1lb6oz of R-134 into the system with a VIPER VR_8000 machine.. I jumped the pressure switch at the accumalater and I still can't get the compresser to kick in.. Can you help ???

When you retrofit from R-12 to R-134 you have to install the special 2 ounces of R-134 refrigerant oil into the system and then recharge the syatem AFTER you evacuate ALL the air from the syttem, Then install 80% of R-134 into system.

Look to see on the sticker near the blower motor or elsewhere the amount of R-12 freon that the system holds and ONLY install 80% of R-134 back into the system.

Do NOT forget to clear any codes from the computer OR you can remove the ECM (PCM) fuse from the fuse panel for 15 seconds so as to reset the system and then it should work OK.
