Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Auto airconditioning, mitsubishi eclipse, diameter hose

Question
I have a 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse and I need to recharge the AC system. I cannot fine the low pressure valve to put the freon in. Can you tell me where ir is located?
Thanks, WLW

Answer
My foreign car experience is VERY LIMITED.

The LOW side port is usually located on the accumulator or on the larger diameter hose/tubing of the system or at the compressor. It is usually identified with a BLUE colored plastic cover cap.

HOWEVER, If you plan on recharging the A/C system you first:

1. have to locate and fix the leak.

2. Add the EXACT amount of FREON OIL of which has been lost due to the leak or if a part is being replaced.

3. Add the EXACT amount of freon to the system.

4. Evacuate all of the atmospheric air from the A/C system by using a vacuum pump.

5. Need the use of a set of A/C gages to monitor the high and low side system pressures to be sure they are within specifications.

FREON is very DANGEROUS to work with and should not be attempted by anyone who does not have the proper equipment as stated above and or the expertise of the knowledge of the system.

If you make ANY mistake you can damage the A/C components and or cause excessive internal pressure of which can rupture an A/C hose and the freon can BLIND and or cause serious skin injury.
