Auto body repair & detailing: Cost to Repair/Refinish Rear Bumper 2005 Toyota Corolla, 2005 toyota corolla, cincinnati ohio area

Question
My daughter tapped the rear bumper of a 2005 Toyota Corolla and punctured a hole with the acorn nut from the front license plate of her car.  We are handling this outside of insurance so I'd like to know an estimated cost for repair and refinish of the rear bumper cover.  In worst case, replacement of bumper and refinish.  I live in Cincinnati Ohio area and want a point of reference when the owner of the other car produces an estimate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Tony!...From your description of the damage, this is definitly repairable, and should not need to be replaced....If the size of the hole is contained to the size of the acorn nut, my estimate for repair of the bumper cover, without seeing it, would be 1.5 to 2.5 hours labor, as sometimes there is distortion around the puncture as well....Here, that would cost about  $187.50 on the high side, as our door rate is $75.00 per hour...The cover will need to be removed to repair it properly...Estimate for this, on average, is 2.5 hours to remove, overhaul, and re-install...So $187.50 also....Paint will be similar to this in cost...My estimate would be around 3.0 hours, including clear coat.....$225.00...All in all, total cost of repair would be $600.00....Please keep in mind, that this an estimate, as door rates can vary considerably from area to area, but should give you somewhat of an idea of what to expect....Hope this helps you out...Any other questions, please drop me another line....Thanks....Dave
