Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 2000 Lincoln Town Car AC, lincoln town car, compressor clutch

I recently purchased a used 2000 Lincoln Town Car. I sat down in the car this evening and low and behold the AC would not turn on. The fan is not even blowing. When I click the MaxAC button I hear a click then a low hum that disappears when I turn the unit off. Funny thing is the unit worked about 1 hour before fine. I checked the blower fuse under the dash and it looked fine.

Hi Josh,

If I was to drive a car, this would be the one I would have. Please check ALL your fuses. There are many things that control the a/c and fan. You might also check in the fan just to make sure there is no obstruction. My girlfriends junk GM 2003 Alero had a piece of foam insulation drop into it and stopped the fan from spinning. Great... Also check to see that the compressor clutch is working. Let me know what you found.
