Auto body repair & detailing: painting a bronco, cracked windshield, color coverage

Question
My 1989 Bronco has a cracked windshield, should I get it replaced before painting the truck?  Can I paint the fiberglass top with the same paint I use on the rest of the truck?  About how much paint does it take to paint a full size Bronco?

Thank you

Answer
Hi Jim,

I would recommend pulling the windshield out then painting the vehicle. This will allow you to avoid trying to tape around the glass which is a big inconvenience.

The same paint can be used so long as there is no raw fiberglass exposed. You may also want to prime first with like an epoxy primer so that you get a good base.

A Bronco will take about a gallon and a quart roughly. That can vary depending on the type of paint, color coverage, and technique.
