Question
Question
We just purchased a  new car and we are having Simoniz 5 applied to the painted metal surfaces...
The manufacturer warranties the system for 5 yrs.At what point should I apply a coat of good quality wax to the car?

Thank you,

Answer
Fred-

I'm sure it's too late for this type of advice but here goes. I know that these sealant packages are a huge profit center for the dealership as I have worked at my share. I have seen them sold for as much as $499 to the customer. Usually the detail dept. charges internally to the sales dept. anywhere from 40-90 dollars for them. I suppose they can be of some value when the interior products are applied but have always believed that the paint sealants themselves will never remain bonded to the paint for even a year. You will certainly notice that the finish won't even continue to bead water after only 6-7 washes, less if you use an automatic car wash. I have dealt with warranty concerns after the fact as well, bird dropping damage, tree sap etc. and never received any reimbursement for my customer so beware. I HAVE NOT SPECIFICALLY DEALT WITH THE SIMONIZ PRODUCT. If it's too late for a refund ask the detail department about reapplication because you may be able to get them to reapply it periodically! Good Luck-Mark
