Auto body repair & detailing: auto, gm dealer, buick century

Question
How do you program a replacement keyless remote transmitter on a 2001 Buick Century . Thanks,

Answer
Dion, go to my dealership asking for spare keys or a new remote and you need to bring everything possible to prove ownership of the car before the parts department will even look at you. It doesn't even matter if we know you by name. It's a state wide thing, and is supposed to be a GM dealer wide thing. Perhaps the people you are dealing with are sloppy or lax in enforcement of these rules. Think about that next time you can't find your car in a parking lot. Maybe it will really be gone next time. Cozy feeling, ain't it? It's all about theft prevention and liability.  Perhaps you didn't want to pay to have it programmed- that is my guess. A car remote isn't like a TV remote, you just don't buy a new one and presto, it works. Even if I'm wrong about programming the remote- I took 5 minutes out of my day to try to help you out- for free. Next time someone does that for you, politely thank them, and continue about your business. Your 5 minutes are up.
