Auto body repair & detailing: Swirl/scratches on my black car I just bought, elbow grease, swirl marks

Question
Hi Mike!  I just purchased a 2005 honda pilot in black on Saturday.  I asked the dealer before I bought the car if they were going to detail it and they said 'of course'.  Well I come out to get my new car and it not only has sand in the back seat, but I see it the sun that there are swirl/scratch marks all over it.  I complained and they said they would take it back this week and have someone else 'detail' it.  I'm wondering--What can be done to remove these marks(if anything) and what will this procedure cost?

Answer
Black and most all dark colors are fun when comes to swirl marks. Unless they are deep, you can take them out with a good polish and wax. Don't ask what brand, there is several very good products out there. Cut up an old T shirt or old soft bath towel for polish rags, they work very well. Let the dealer try it again first and save some elbow grease.
