Auto body repair & detailing: Molding color restoration, jeep wrangler, auto parts stores

Question
I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with severely faded black moldings over the wheel wells.  I have used a product called "Back to Black" with less than satisfactory results.  The best it produced was an uneven grey.  Any suggestions to return the black coloring?

Answer
There is a product made by a company called Mar-Hyde that is basically a spray paint for plastic parts. It is used in body shops to refinish moldings and other smaller areas made of flexible plastic. You can remove the flares, or mask them off to paint them. The product is available at auto paint supply stores, napa, and some auto parts stores.Be sure to follow directions on the can,and take your time doing the prep work, making sure all of the other products are thoroughly cleaned off.Plan B.is to replace them if you are not happy with these results.Plan to spend 300 to 400 dollars to replace them.
