Auto body repair & detailing: Hammering-out dents, remarkable job, dent removal

Question
I basically removed most of a large dent on left quaterpanel. It
now has many little dents. I bought some repair tools .  Will I be
able to hammer out these smaller dents or should I just grind
them down and then fill with bondo.  The paint is intact and I
was trying to eliminate sending  it to be repainted if I could.

There is a company called paintless dent removal. They are inexpensive and do a remarkable job. They will come to your house and repair without repainting. Or you can hammer out the low spots from inside the trunk. If it still doesnt look good you can grind, fill with bondo, sand, prime, then paint.
