Auto body repair & detailing: Auto body painting, light coats, spray cans

Question
I have an 88' Supra with a removable roof that was faded.  The car is black, so I thought I would give a shot at repainting the roof.  I have put several light coats of base and clear on     ( duplicolor spray cans-no laughing please!)  My question is should I sand it now with 1500 grit sand paper to smooth it, use polishing compound, both or any other suggestions? Any help appreciated.

Answer
At this point I would wetsand it smooth with 1200 or 1500 And then apply more clear. Dont let the clear dry completly before applying more coats.atleast three.do it on a cool night so it will flow out better. Wait a week wetsand with 2000 grit sand paper.Do not sand with you fingers use the palm of your hand. one sheet should be more than ample. do not sand through the edges. Then polish. Should do the trick. Make shure there is no dirt or dust on before clearing.
