Auto Glass: Power window fix, Power window fix, Honda Accord

Question
We recently bought a 1990 Honda Accord. The driver's side power window doesn't work properly. The window pops out of the track and when I put it back in and roll it up or down, it pops out again. Also, the lift tracks are loose, I don't know if that makes the problem worse(or is the problem). Is there any way I could fix this, or does it need to be replaced?

Answer
Hi saul,

The 1990-97 Honda Accord door glasses were always a pain in the neck. The main problems being  that back in the early 90's no aftermarket door glass seemed to work in this car. If you wanted the job to be right the first time that you did it, you had to buy a Honda glass.

Of course no one could wait for the dealer glass and we would have to deal with the after market crap.  If you were lucky 1 out of 5 door glasses were bonded correctly for the regulator, but very rarely was the over all contour of the glass right. This meant you had to adjust the regulator to the glass and Hope that it worked.  The Accord door glass problem got so bad that we would refuse All Accord jobs., The unhappy customers,  Twisted and bent regulators, Insurance companies refusing to pay for dealer glass, It was a NIGHTMARE!!! Sorry for the ranting , I was getting flashbacks LOL.

Having said that here is the answer to your problem:

IF the door glass is a Honda, your half way home. If it is not you will want to find one.

AP TECH and Honda are the names you are looking for, both OE. Original Equipment.

Get a regulator from Honda  or junk yard, ( make sure its not bent.) and take the car to a Profesional glass shop that has a good reputation. You should not have to pay more than 80.00-100.00 for them to install your parts.

The only way to guarrantee the door glass job is to bring it to Honda and pay the Dealer prices,

as no glass shop can guaranttee your parts.

Hope This Helps! Derek :)

APTECH is the name
