Auto Glass: ford ranger glass, rubber gasket, weather strip

Question
how do i insert the new passenger side door glass into the door on a 97 ford ranger?

Answer
Hello Roland,

You shouldn't have too much trouble if you follow these steps.

Open the truck door.

Lower the window mechanism ("regulator") to the bottom of the door.

Remove the rubber gasket ("weather strip") at the top edge of the door.

Stand between the open door and the passenger seat.

Tilt the front edge of the glass forward to about a 45 degree angle and slide it into the opening at the top of the door.  Continue to lower the glass until the back edge of the glass is also in the opening at the top of the door.

Once the glass is far enough down inside the door you should be able to tilt it back to the horizontal position and get the front and back edges in their respective run channel gaskets.

You may need more that one try to get it right, but don't get too impatient with yourself.  Glass guys often don't get it on the first try.

Good Luck With Your Project,

Ben ... the power window guy
