Automotive Plastics: ABS plastic sheet, flexible plastic, ABS sheet

Question
I have a bowler tomcat off road race car that I am renovating. the pick up sides are flat aluminium on to a steel frame. I need to replace them. I have seen abs plastic sheet  2.5 mm thick. would this be suitable or would it shater at the first knock. It should get knocked much and a crack would be to bad.

Answer
Hi Mick, you are right. ABS is not the best polymer for this application. Despite having butadiene (a rubbery plastic), is not flexible enough. My suggestion for you, is to use a Polyethylene, polypropylene, or a polycarbonate+ polybutylene copolymer sheet. thank you for your question.
