Auto Parts: 96chevy 1500 4.3l, rotor coil, ac delco parts

Question
My 96 Chevy 1500 4.3l has been giving me fits. It continues to stall as I drive down the road at any speed . It will run fine until the engine warms up and then it could stall once or several times kind of randomly. Let me list the recently replaced parts: Fuel pump relay,ECM,ignition module, distributor cap and rotor, coil, ignition module, oxygen sensors before and after catalitic converter and the ignition module. Did I mention the ignition module? Yes I did several times. The guys at the parts house nearest my home claimed they could not test the IGM so I kept trying other things even though that was the only trouble code I kept getting p1351. IGM voltage to high. I broke down across town in front of another parts house they tested the module and it was fine. I changed it again anyway to get home. I pulled out an IGM that I had changed prior and tested it and it was good also.I took the truck to a electrical specialty shop and they will not look at it without changing all the parts back to AC Delco parts. What is causing the high voltage reading? Where do I start my search?

Answer
The code, P1351, that you are getting is, according to some that I talk to, being set because of the stalling.  If the RPM drops below 250, it sets this code.  Which is what is happening when it stalls.  So, you can probably ignore the code.  Now, you have been working on the ignition system to cure this problem.  I have a feeling that you need to look at the fuel system.  Most specifically, the central fuel injection system is made of plastics that become hard over time and crack.  This allows fuel to leak out, reducing pressure and resulting in over-rich starting (usually not a real problem) and over-lean running.  This makes the truck stall.  There are now kits available to convert this failed design over to multiport functioning.  GM sells this kit under Delco part number 2173028, Standard Motor Products sells one under the part number FJ503 for a good bit less.  Either way, it will probably permanently solve your problem.  I sold Standard Motor Products parts for years and they are as good as if not better than the Delco.  Mechanics who only want to use OE parts are a pain in the ass and I wouldn't deal with one, myself.
