Auto Parts: Cruise Control, wire harnesses, wiring harnesses

Question
Hay Knuckles…

I just purchased an 06’ Nissan 350z (basic).  It’s a sweet little ride that needs some possible after market attention.  The dealer tells me that I can’t install a cruise control because it is ONLY a factory option.  Is this true or did they not want to deal with it.

The way I figure I might need a new (from a wrecked Z) steering wheel, (that’s where the contacts are in the upgraded models) and maybe a module @ the main computer….but “Can’t”…..hummm.  Am I biting off more than I can chew…..

What’s your take on it?

Answer
Hi Ken,

Your dealer is correct. Wiring harnesses are matched to the vehicle and in order for your vehicle to acquire stock CC, you'd have to change three major wire harnesses in your car at a cost that might eclipse that of the purchase price of the vehicle, even used, because of the vehicles newness. You can purchase aftermarket speed control devices although they are not as good as the OEM.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
