QuestionAbout 2 years ago I had a shop replace the engine in my 2001 Grand Caravan. They used a 2003 engine and had to cap the EGR valve. Recently my check engine came on, and I was told it indicated a bad EGR valve. Should I simply replace the valve and cap it off, or is the problem related to the capping off itself?

I really don't know. You've given me conflicting information.
It is odd however that you mention that EGR capping. My notes here state that B fits A by capping off the EGR. Your 2001 Caravan fits the B-interchange and the 2003 model is the A-interchange. What that is saying is that if you have an '03 Caravan, you can use an engine from an '01 as long as you cap the EGR. Your '01 HAS EGR whereas the '03 engine does not have the EGR provision. I'll post the interchange for those engines below. This is a one-way interchange also. Meaning that an '03 engine does not work in an older vehicle so I'm not sure how much you know about your own car, but I'm thinking you are misunderstanding something or I am.
