Auto Parts: 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe key, hyundai santa fe, resistance value

I purchased a used 03 santa fe from a dealership in florida via e bay it only came with one key. we went to  an auto store for a duplicate and were told that it had a transponder in it so it could only be done through hyundai. the owners manual says that there is a code that comes with the keys that is used when another key has to be made but i did not receive this either when i bought the car. is there anything i can do to get a key made for this vehicle? do you think hyundai will give me a problem for not having the code?

Hi Jonathan,

Your local dealer should be able to get the resistance value from the transponder itself in order to duplicate the key. Just take it to them, bring your wallet because those keys are not cheap.
