Auto Parts: BWM Engine Computer (ECU) Replacement, 2001 bmw 330ci, bmw 330ci

Question
Recently I had 2 fuel injectors go bad on my 2001 BMW 330ci.  When I hooked it up to a diagnostic computer it threw a lot of errors related to lean fuel problems.  When I took it to my mechanic he said that indeed 2 injectors were bad but that also he was getting the ECU Failure code and that the car drove as if there was something wrong with the computer.  I am attempting to replace those fuel injectors as we speak, and then see how the car handles.  However, if I need to replace the ECU (engine computer) can I get a used one for him to reprogram?  I am having much difficulty finding and ECU that matches up to my numbers (7509443 and 7506307).  Do the numbers have to match up exactly, or could I try one that starts with 751 as I have found many used ECU's starting with this number.  I do not want to buy a new one from the deal as this costs $1209.36.  What are my options?

Answer
Hi Jacob,
Honestly, We sell ECM's and other control modules, but I don't personally do it. You ABSOLUTELY can buy and install a USED computer into your car and they ARE reprogrammable if needed even though the dealership won't accept that. They'll say the VIN is burned into the unit and that you'll have to buy a NEW one from them. Don't believe them they are only after your money. If you do need an ECM for your vehicle, I'm sure I can locate one for you. We have a computer guru here and that is just about all he does is computer sales and support. Shoot me a follow-up or email (knuckle@knucklebusters.us) or visit our website (www.knucklebusters.us). We have a location service that is reasonably priced and there is a real good chance we'll be able to help you. Number matching is the best way to interchange these modules, but like I said, we have a guy here who understands these things.
Thanks for the question, I hope the information here was helpful to you.
