Car Alarms: 2002 Honda Accord car alarm system, car alarm system, honda accord car

Question
The remote (key fob) for my 2002 Honda Accord would not function regularly. I installed new batteries and have the same problem. I tried the 2nd remote with the same results. Sometimes the remote will lock or unlock the doors, it rarely activates security system. The truck lock seems to be the only reliable function. This has been going on for several months, but is occurring more frequently.
Also, the SRS dash light is on even though the belts are functional. The two days ago the parking brake dash light went on while I was driving down the road. I pulled over and attempted to reset the parking brake with no change. After about 15-20 minutes of highway driving the light went off. (My husband's 2002 Accord brake light has remained on since he purchased it used months ago) Could this be a coincidence or are we in for more problems? Might it be an electrical or computer generated problem or as someone hinted a soon to be alternator replacement?

Answer
Have Honda service inspect this. It sounds as if the car is in
long tamper mode, and they will need to reset it by
Honda code reader/writer there. Not too expensive

Somewhere along the way, possibly if powered down, you
lost programing from the computer for the remotes.

That is a dealer issue. Do that prior to
replacing items.

Good luck.
