Auto Parts: Toyota Solara 2001, toyota solara, thread pitch

Question
The battery clamp was removed by a service person. The bolt is missing on the front side (towards the radiator) of the battery clamp. This bolt clamps the hold down bracket to secure the battery to the frame of the car. What is the size of the bolt used? I know it is metric.

Answer
Good question! I'm not really sure and not sure how to find out for you. There's a good chance that in '01 Toyota was still using SAE BOLTS with metric caps to standardize tool needs in which case you'd probably be looking for a bolt: 5/16-16x2.5. If it truly is metric, which I'm not sure of, you'd probably be looking at an M10-1.0x40. The thread pitch on the bolt could also be 1.25, but like I said, chances are the 'bolt' is SAE with a metric cap.
Thanks for the question, I hope this information helps you.
