Auto Parts: What would be the best way to go about making my 06 automatic Scion Tc faster?, scion tc, import speed

I just bought it and I haven't done a thing to it. I can spend roughly $2K a month on it and I would really like to get it to go 0-60 in, say... 6 seconds or less. I know automatic was probably a bad idea if my goal was tuning, but I think I can overcome that if i know what I'm doing. What should I do? And if so, where should I start off first? I don't know much about cars or tuning for that matter, but having bought a Tc and hearing what they're capable of, I'm determined to learn more about the subject so that I can significantly improve its performance within the next 6 to 12 months. I'm patient and I  know these things take time, especially in my case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nigel, if you actually have 2k a month to dump on your scion you should have just bought a car that was fast already. However if you really want to make it quick you really need to check with your local speed shop or even an import speed web site. They would be the ones with the latest up to date info on all the products out there for the import scene.
