Car Alarms: checkmate KD-500+, ground signal, sending the signal

Question
Hello, a few weeks ago the alarm stopped working properly. I changed the battery in the remote, but still it was hard to arm or disarm. I placed the system into valet and used the factory alarm that came with my Nissan. I still used the remote starter from the checkmate as it's winter. Today it started with the remote, but no longer starts with the key. Am I missing something or does the alarm need to be removed?

Answer
The unit may be "locked" into the remote cycle.
Damaged. But at this point, you'll need to pull
the system. Something from the Checkmate is
sending a ground signal out to the key switch.

Might be a bad inline relay, but obviously there
is a miss cue here not sending the signal to
starter with the key. It can also be the transponder
from the key switch cylinder that is keeping the
vehicle from starting. If this is the problem
(never got the model & year from you) then Nissan will need
to inspect, but from my point of view, it's
the Checkmate that needs evaluation, repair and
or removal/replacement.

Have this looked at by an alarm pro.

Good luck.
