Car Alarms: 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Factory Alarm, valet mode, chevrolet silverado

Question
I own a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Sad to say, i recently had it towed. When i got home from picking the truck, i realized that my factory alarm wasn't working correctly. My alarm remote still locks the doors but when you open the doors manually, the alarm does not go off as it should. Also, when i turn the ignition off to remove the key, the horn honks. I called the tow company and they said that their driver must have taken a fuse out, but thats all the information they could give me. I know nothing about alarm systems and need all the help i can get with this issue to get my alarm working correctly again. Thanks for your help, i will be awaiting your response

Answer
It appears from your expaination, that the
after market car alarm is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

(In valet mode, take the vehicle to a local
car alarm shop to evaluate the shock sensor
settings and if all componants are up to snuff.
Makes for a better experience.)

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
