Car Alarms: factory car alarm, life flight helicopter, 12 volt

Question
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer. I had to replace the driver side door handle this past summer. The door would not unlock the spring broke. I have also noticed that the passenger side door lock does not unlock when I use the remote unlock sometimes. My problem is this. The vehicle alarm goes off at random times. My keys and remote hang by the back door and the other set I put on the table. I unhooked the horn for a few weeks which also disabled the cruise option and I did not notice the lights flashing like the alarm was going off. This only happens when I have the vehicle sitting at home. I did not get new neighbors and the life flight helicopter is not flying over. (the police told me that was the reason it went off one night). It is a factory alarm. Can you help me out as to what I have to do,fix,or replace to keep this from happening?
