Toyota Repair: Shudder on 1987 Toyota Cressida, 1987 toyota cressida, toyota cressida

Question
I have a 1987 Toyota Cressida. Today it started shuddering badly when idling, when driving at low speeds, (up to about 70 kms per hour), then it levels out (lessens) when I reach that speed. I can still feel it a bit, but not nearly as bad at higher speeds. It does this while idling in all gears, neutral, and park. Can you please help? I believe it has 180,000 kms on it. It has an automatic transmission.

Answer
It sounds like it may be an engine misfire, this may be caused by bad spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap/rotor, these engines had a chronic problem with valve cover leaks, oil can leak into the center where the spark plugs are located and short out the spark plug connectors, check this first and if it;s the case replace the spark plugs and the wires and replace the valve cover gaskets.
